Guiting Quarry

The Pre-eminent Cotswolds Quarry

A unique

Cotswold Stone Quarry

The limestones of the Cotswold Hills have been quarried for hundreds of years. Today, Cotswold stone is still a popular and versatile building material with its qualities in its beauty, variety and strength. The combined skills of craftsmen and modern equipment offer an attractive and competitively priced product with an assurance of durability and pleasing asthetics.

Guiting Quarry is located nine miles east of Cheltenham in the very heart of the Cotswolds and is recognised as one of the UKs pre-eminent traditional Cotswold limestones. This historical quarry has been worked for over 150 years and was taken over by thhe Johnston Quarry Group in May 2019 and we are now delighted to reintroduce this historic limestone back the market place.

Cotswold stone is creamy in colour and available in light or dark shades. With the passage of time the limestone weathers to mellow tints of yellow and grey. Unlike its artificial precast counterparts, no two blocks are exactly the same, which provides warmth, individuality and provenance wherever it is used.

The Johnston Quarry Group is now widely specified for many types of contemporary and modern building work, as well as fireplaces, restoration, conservation and other decorative purposes. With the active support of planners, architects and developers, there is a rapidly growing demand for natural materials. Overtime Cotswold stone will undergo a gradual colour change, with the distinctive creams weathering to mellow tints of yellow and grey.
