Oathill Quarry in Gloucestershire is considered by many to be the original Cotswold Limestone quarry.
The quarry supplies two distinct blocks: Cotswold Cream and the unique Guiting Gold. Both offer high quality masonry block stone.
The limestone strata on the quarry site belong to the Inferior Oolite Group of the Middle Jurassic. The sequence lies entirely within the Birdlip formation and the principle building stones (White, Yellow and Gold Guiting) lie within the Cleeve Cloud Member of that formation, which is approximately 38m thick.
Oathill Quarry is a 60 acre freehold quarry with over 2.5 million tonnes of consented reserves. It was acquired by the Johnston Quarry Group in the summer of 2008.
